Privacy policy

This policy explains what data Freedom Day (freedomday.app) collects, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: the demo runs in your browser and needs no account; analytics are cookieless by default; the waitlist stores only what you type into it, and you can leave at any time.

Who we are

What we collect

Playing the demo

The demo simulation runs entirely in your browser. Your in-game decisions are not sent to our servers and are not stored after you close the page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, demo started or completed, calculator used. By default it runs in Google’s cookieless Consent Mode: no cookies and no persistent identifier, only aggregate counts. If you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner, we additionally set a first-party Google Analytics cookie so we can tell returning visits apart. If you decline, we keep only the cookieless measurement. Google may process this data in the United States under standard contractual clauses. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell data.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store:

  • your email address;
  • the role you optionally choose (player, parent, or educator);
  • the page you signed up from and basic campaign parameters (UTM);
  • if you played the demo first — how many months your run lasted (a number, nothing else);
  • timestamps of your signup and confirmation.

We use double opt-in: you get a confirmation email and join the list only after clicking the link in it. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). We use the list for one purpose — telling you about Freedom Day. Emails are sent through Resend, our email processor.

How long we keep data

  • Waitlist entries: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or 12 months after the product launches — whichever comes first.
  • Unconfirmed signups: deleted after 30 days.
  • Analytics events: up to 14 months, then automatically deleted or aggregated by Google Analytics.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (and similar US state laws such as the CCPA) you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. For deletion, email privacy@freedomday.app — we will remove your waitlist entry and confirm within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; ours is the Latvian Data State Inspectorate.

Age

Made for adults 18+. Readable for ages 16+. The waitlist is for ages 16 and up. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Processors we use

  • Cloudflare — hosting and infrastructure (EU/US, with standard contractual clauses);
  • Google (Google Analytics 4) — analytics (US, with standard contractual clauses);
  • Resend — transactional email (US, with standard contractual clauses).

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will note it here and, for waitlist members, tell you by email.
